Analysis

The analyses of the wines examined so far have produced the following results:

  • Red wine can contain significant amounts of polyphenols and flavonoids.
  • White wine contains almost no polyphenols and flavonoids.
  • Not all red wines are the same.
  • Among the red wines examined, differences in polyphenol content of up to sevenfold were found — and up to fourteenfold for resveratrol. It follows that only an analysis provides certainty that a wine contains sufficient polyphenols.
  • In the grape varieties Tannat, Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, elevated levels of polyphenols were detected.
