Klosterneuburg on Top
The HBLAuBA in Klosterneuburg, the oldest viticulture school in the world, continues to play a crucial role in elevating the reputation of Austrian wine year after year. Now, the region’s winemakers have demonstrated their ability to translate their expertise into practice, proving their excellence even in a blind tasting competition.
The results speak for themselves:
• 1st place for CUVÉE Rot 2019 (CSM – Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot)
• 2nd place for ZWEIGELT Reserve 2019
• 2nd place for DONAUVELTLINER 2021, a PIWI variety (fungus-resistant grape)
Beyond these individual awards, the winery was named "Winery of the Year" in Lower Austria, an honor achieved at the NÖ Landesweinkost in Mold, where around 6,400 samples from over 1,000 participating wineries were blind tasted and evaluated.
HR. DI Dr. Reinhard Eder, Director of the Viticulture School, commented:
"Expertise pays off. We don’t just teach how to make great wine—we prove it in practice. This success is not only a strong validation of the quality of Klosterneuburg’s vineyards but also a commitment for the future."
