Polyphenols Matter – Lifestyle Is Key
If I had to summarize the content of the Congress Lifestyle, Diet, Wine and Health, held in Rome from March 26 to 28, 2025, in one word, it would be: LIFESTYLE.
And that means: NO smoking, regular exercise, no significant overweight, and a Mediterranean diet. If you don’t follow this recommendation, even moderate red wine consumption can’t work miracles.
Let’s first focus on the Mediterranean diet: vegetables in all colors, whole grain products, fruit, fish, moderate meat, olive oil, and as a meal companion, moderate red wine.
It is considered proven that only the combination of these components achieves the best health effects.
Meals should/may bring joy and require time. The opposite of healthy is highly processed food with sugary drinks, eaten alone in a hurry.
The Mediterranean lifestyle means lunch with family, with friends, in a relaxed atmosphere. A subsequent rest period also has positive effects on health and performance.
This is the best foundation for a long and healthy life.
Sincerely,
Herbert Braunöck
