Alcohol Bashing, Alcohol Opponents, "Alternative Truths"
The principle applies: Tell me the sender and their intention, and I will tell you whether their message is true. Since Trump, there are no more lies, only "alternative truths." Behind the anti-alcohol campaign stands MOVENDI, formerly known as the Good Templars, an organization that radically fights smoking, alcohol, and, in the foreseeable future, sugar. Now that the WHO is recommending health warnings on bottles of alcoholic beverages, it is reminiscent of the horrifying images on cigarette packs.
To the point: The following has been confirmed multiple times by scientific studies (known to the editors). It is true that alcohol abuse must be categorically rejected. The consequences are premature death and high costs for society. However, there is a harmless amount of alcohol per day. Moderate alcohol consumption means 24g of pure alcohol for men, 16g for women.
For wine, this translates to: 2/8 to 3/8 per day for men and 1/8 to 2/8 for women. It has been scientifically proven that moderate (red) wine consumption can reduce the risk of a heart attack by up to 30 percent. Polyphenols and flavonoids have health-promoting effects on the body. Resveratrol, in particular, is a well-known and accepted substance. Moderate wine consumption has no impact on cancer risk.
Lifestyle determines health into old age. Smoking, obesity, lack of exercise, and poor nutrition cannot be compensated for by a "healthy eighth of red wine."
